The Public Works Department reported that a total of 205 roads were closed between Tuesday and Wednesday, with the majority reopening by Wednesday. However, the closure of the Badrinath Highway persists due to rockslides near Joshimath Chungidhar, which remains unresolved as of the second day.Approximately 3000 passengers are currently stranded in Joshimath and Pipalkoti due to the highway closure. The local administration is distributing food packets to all those affected.As a result of the road closure, numerous pilgrims sought refuge in nearby hotels, while others spent the night in their vehicles. A team from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is actively working to reopen the highway. It is anticipated that the road will be accessible again by Thursday.
